As County Commissioner it is your role to appoint Mentors for new District and Division Commissioners. The Mentor is there to help the new Commissioner understand her role and what is expected of her.
For District Commissioners it may be wise to delegate this task to their Division, who will know the people in the area better. You are still responsible for making sure this is done.
A new Commissioner’s Mentor should be someone who is experienced in guiding and knowledgeable about the Commissioner role. They need not have been a Commissioner, as long as you feel that they are knowledgeable enough to be able to support a new Commissioner through the induction process.
An e-learning module on mentoring within Girlguiding is available for all members wanting to develop these skills.
Further advice can be found in these notes for Commissioner Mentors.
