It may be useful to have a County newsletter, released periodically by email or print, to keep members of your County informed about County news and events.
It is also a way to thank volunteers for their hard work and congratulate members on awards.
The compilation of the newsletter will normally be delegated. When discussing the work with the person who has undertaken this task be sure to consider the following.
- How often your newsletter will circulate – it may have more impact if released quarterly rather than monthly.
- The format.
- Whether there will be a hierarchy when selecting articles to feature – changes to guiding which will affect the local area may take priority over an account of a recent event.
You may wish to include in this a welcome letter from you as County Commissioner. This is a great chance to give positive opinions on guiding in the area and highlight parts of the newsletter that you feel are particularly important. In addition, the personal touch will make you more approachable to members of your County.
