County Commissioner Handbook

Chairing meetings

It is your role as County Commissioner to chair the meetings of your County Team.

Before your first County meeting, study the County Constitution so you know who should attend and who is able to vote.

Talk to the outgoing Commissioner about the form that meetings have taken in the past, although it is not necessary that you follow this exactly. You should consult minutes from previous meetings and be informed of any decisions that have been made recently.

The first time that you chair a County meeting you are likely to be anxious. Introduce yourself to the County team and share how you see the meetings proceeding.

It is important that you share your vision for the County and give details of your expectations and what these will mean to members of the County team.
